Foreign generic domain names 'will improve accessibility'

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers' (ICANN's) plan to introduce foreign language generic domain names will improve accessibility for global web users, according to a UK internet registry. Nominet UK, which manages .uk internet domains, has welcomed the forthcoming introduction of web addresses written in non-Latin script such as Cyrillic or Chinese.
Phil Kingsland, director of communication at the firm, said the move will allow almost a billion non-English speakers worldwide to access local websites without needing to convert their keyboards. Mr Kingsland dismissed fears that such a change will have a negative effect on business, saying that most of the firms who will be switching to a new script will still maintain Latin-script domain names for their foreign clients. He also praised ICANN for its "sensible" use of safeguards in the lead up to this switch, which he stated will reduce the danger of any possible security risks.
The Nominet UK director said: "I think, because of how it has been done in such a well-managed manner, there should be no problems." To view some very strong generic domains that are currently on auction why not visit www.eaddresses.co.uk
