BMW and Honda recognised for reliability
If reliability is a major factor in your choice of car then a Honda or BMW should be at the top of your shopping list. The FN50 report, a study involving more than 800,000 vehicles conducted by Fleet News and Grant Thornton, concluded that the two carmakers supply the most reliable vehicles. Porsche announces addition to Boxster range
Porsche has unveiled a new lightweight version of its Boxster inspired by a 1950s sportscar. The Boxster Spyder weighs 80kg less than existing versions of the mid-engined roadster and is equipped with a Sports Chrono Package, helping to give it added performance. Its 3.4-litre engine generates 320bhp and the car is capable of reaching 62mph from a standing start in just 4.8 seconds, and of accelerating up to a top speed of 166mph with the roof down. British supercar on show in London
This year's MPH Show will feature a car that is faster than anything even James May has driven. Top Gear's Captain Slow took the Bugatti Veyron to its maximum speed of 253mph on Volkswagen's test track in one of the hit BBC2 show's most memorable features. Suzuki Alto hits 141mpg in fuel economy challenge
The Suzuki Alto has recorded a fuel economy figure of 141mpg during a section of the Global Green Challenge in Australia. With the government using tax measures to persuade motorists to buy greener vehicles and the AA reporting that the average price of petrol in the UK is now 105.1p per litre, the issue of fuel economy has never been more important. Carmakers are doing everything they can to promote their vehicles as efficient, including entering them in events like the Global Green Challenge - a 1,900-mile drive from Darwin to Adelaide designed to test fuel consumption. Volkswagen to launch powerful new Golf
Volkswagen has unveiled the fastest accelerating Golf it has ever produced. The new Golf R with DSG gearbox, which has been developed by Volkswagen's special projects division, is capable of reaching 62 mph from a standing start in just 5.5 seconds. Equipped with a special hydraulic version of the German carmaker's 4MOTION four-wheel drive system, the car is designed for maximum traction in order to help it pull away quicker.
