HTC has announced that its new Windows-based phone, the HD2, will be launched in Europe this month. The handset, which has a 4.3-inch capacitive touch display, is equipped with a wide range of functions designed to make it feel as personal to the user as possible. These include a localised weather forecast, the ability to sort communications by contact regardless of whether messages have come via text, email or Facebook, a Twitter application and the ability to download applications from Windows Marketplace for Mobile.

The majority of British internet users prefer to click on .uk sites than .com ones, according to a new report. A survey by internet registry Nominet asked consumers whether they would be more likely to click on a .uk or a .com web address first in search results. Among those quizzed, 77 per cent said they would choose the .uk result first, up from just over 70 per cent when the same survey was carried out in 2008.

Sony Ericsson has unveiled its first Google Android-based handset, as it continues to find ways to take on Apple's iPhone. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, which will be launched early in 2010, has a customised version of the Android operating system.
