Mass Effect 2 still number one in second week Mass Effect 2 retains top spot in gaming charts

Sci-fi adventure game Mass Effect 2 has retained its place as the top-selling title in the UK for the second week in a row. The role-playing sequel for Xbox 360 and PC held off close competition from Ubisoft's Wii game Just Dance, taking the top spot this week by a margin of just 850 units. Since its release, the game has attracted positive reviews from gaming critics, receiving more than 40 perfect review scores from publications including Eurogamer, as well as selling more than two million copies worldwide.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 tops global sales for 2009 Modern Warfare 2 is world's top-selling game of 2009

The blockbuster videogame Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been revealed as the best-selling title in the world for 2009. According to a report from GfK-ChartTrack for MCV, the shooter sequel sold 11.9 million copies across the globe, with UK gamers contributing 2.8 million sales to the total. The game's first five days on release saw publisher Activision rake in $550 million (£345.2 million), making it the most profitable launch of any entertainment property in history.

Nominet, the company in charge of managing .uk domain names, has stated that the current self-regulated system has played a key role in the sector's ability to remain innovative and progressive. The comments come after the government recently proposed taking control of regulating Nominet and the generic domain name industry in order to maintain their commitment to the needs of the public.

Multi-touch capability added for Nexus One Nexus One updated with multi-touch functionality

Google's Nexus One smartphone has reclaimed technical ground on its rival the iPhone with the addition of multi-touch compatibility. The technology giant has released a new software update for the HTC-manufactured device which allows users to zoom in on photos, maps and web pages using a pinch of their fingers on the screen. This is one of a number of new features which Google has introduced via the update, which also include a new, more customisable version of Google Maps and improved 3G connectivity.

Different versions of iPad to launch in March and April UK iPad launch dates confirmed

Apple has revealed that its hotly-anticipated new iPad will be hitting UK shores within the next three months. The touchscreen-based tablet computer is to be launched in two different models, with the Wi-Fi capable version of the device coming out at the end of March. Apple also confirmed that the 3G-compatible version of the unit will be following in April, although it did not reveal UK pricing for either model.

Science-fiction adventure Mass Effect 2 has stormed to the top of the UK's gaming sales chart in its first week of release. The role-playing shooter game from BioWare, creator of the recent fantasy epic Dragon Age: Origins, sold enough copies to depose last week's best seller Just Dance, which dropped into second place. Mass Effect 2's debut dwarfed that of the original game, which never rose higher than 12th place in the all formats chart.
