Up to half of people driving on British roads would potentially be unable to pass their driving test. That is the finding of a study commissioned by Kia Motors UK, which challenged a number of motorists to re-take their exam. In the study, 50 per cent of drivers failed the test with two-thirds making basic errors such as failing to look before moving off.

Peugeot has released details and images of its latest model – the 3008, which it claims is a 'new concept' in car design. More than half of British motorists would rather face being stuck in a traffic jam than take public transport. That is the result of a survey conducted by RAC Foundation and Ipsos MORI, which revealed that 53 per cent of drivers would rather risk heavy traffic than take a bus or train. The data also showed a 63 per cent reduction in the amount of British drivers who believe congestion is a serious problem in their locality, as well as a 54 per cent drop since 2001 in the support for congestion charge schemes in the UK.

Skoda is offering UK drivers the chance to take a sneak peak at its new model - the Yeti. In dealerships across the country from now until August 7th, customers will be able to get a hands-on preview of the new car, which the company is calling its "most versatile vehicle yet". The Yeti is available in two or four-wheel-drive and Skoda claims that it offers a rugged all-terrain-vehicle feel with the running costs of a hatchback.

The new Honda Accord has been named the most reliable car on British roads by a consumer magazine. Which? named the motor as the most reliable after it received a rating of 99 per cent in its annual survey. The almost perfect score is one of the highest in the survey's history and the Accord wasn't the only highly rated Honda.

Swedish car manufacturer Volvo is set to be involved in a long-running murder mystery TV series. Two new vehicles, an S80 D5 SE Lux and an S40 D5 SE, are to be driven by police officers DCI Tom Barnaby and DS Ben Jones in popular show Midsomer Murders. Actor John Nettles, who plays DCI Barnaby, is said to be so enraptured by his on-screen S80 that he now drives it to and from the set as well.

Jeep on tour with T-Rex Jeep on tour with T-Rex

Jeep is planning to tour the length of Great Britain with a full size replica of a ferocious Tyrannosaurus Rex dinosaur. In an effort to raise £500,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust, Lloyd Scott MBE will drive a Jeep Wrangler from Land's End in the south-west of England to John O'Groats on the north-east tip of Scotland. The life-size T-Rex model measures more than 13 feet in height and 30 feet in length and will be towed behind the four-by-four vehicle in a trailer.

British drivers have named tailgating as the most annoying habit on the road. The dangerous practice of following the car in front too closely was named most irritating by 36 per cent of respondents in a survey by AA/Populus of more than 15,000 drivers. Using a mobile phone while driving came second in the study with 23 per cent of the vote and middle lane hogging followed in third with 18 per cent.
