Gavin and Stacey star James Corden has joined Snow Patrol on stage at the Royal Albert Hall after impressing frontman Gary Lightbody with his singing. The actor followed in Martha Wainwright and Cheryl Cole's footsteps by singing the female vocal part on the band's single Set The Fire To The Third Bar on Tuesday night. Wainwright had sung on the original recording of the song while X Factor judge Cole performed the song with Snow Patrol at the recent Children in Need Rocks the Albert Hall concert.

Adam Lambert has insisted he is unconcerned about the criticism of an awards show performance during which he kissed a male band member. More than 1,500 people complained after the American Idol star kissed a musician during an appearance at the American Music Awards ceremony on Sunday while breakfast show Good Morning America cancelled a planned appearance by the singer. He was subsequently asked by US network CBS to appear on its rival programme The Early Show and the 27-year-old has since stressed he is not worried about the reaction to his performance.

Oscar winner Dame Julie Andrews is to make her first British stage appearance in 30 years at a one-off show next year, it has been announced. 'An Evening with Julie Andrews', to be held at London's O2 Arena in May, will see the 74-year-old perform songs from her best-loved stage and screen performances and will also include a live narration of Simeon's Gift, the children's book written by the dame and her daughter Emma Walton. "To perform once again in my homeland on the London stage will be a wonderful moment," Dame Julie commented.

Colin McAllister has become the second celebrity voted out of the current series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, it has been announced. The interior designer follows former EastEnders actress Lucy Benjamin in being voted off the ITV1 show while Camilla Dallerup and Katie Price have also left the Australian jungle. McAllister said he was "sad" to leave the ITV1 show as it meant leaving his partner of more than 20 years, Justin Ryan, in the jungle camp.

Wolf Hall, the Booker Prize-winning novel by Hilary Mantel, has been shortlisted for the Costa Book Awards. Mantel's novel, set in Henry VIII's Tudor court, is up against Penelope Lively, Colm Tóibín and the little-known Christopher Nicholson - for The Elephant Keeper - for the Costa novel award. This year's Costa shortlists include two posthumous nominations - for Simon Gray in the biography category and Siobhan Dowd in the children's book shortlist - while veteran broadcaster Clive James is nominated in the poetry category for his reminiscences of his Australian childhood.

"The Mercury Prize was on Tuesday, and on Friday there were no more physical albums in the shops," she told BBC 6Music.

A performance by American Idol star Adam Lambert at the American Music Awards has attracted more than 1,500 complaints. Lambert's act at Sunday's award ceremony featured the singer simulating sex on stage as well as a kiss with a male musician. Since the performance US broadcaster ABC has confirmed it has received a number of complaints about Lambert's performance of his debut single For Your Entertainment but described the total as "moderate".

Oscar-winning director Peter Jackson has confirmed the first script for the two films based on JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit has been completed. Pan's Labyrinth helmer Guillermo del Toro is to bring the novel to the screen while Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens will co-write and produce the films, having won 17 Oscars for the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Speaking at a press conference ahead of the premiere of his new film The Lovely Bones, Jackson revealed the first of the two scripts had already been completed and handed to a grateful studio.
