Actor Ricky Whittle has been bailed after being arrested in Liverpool on suspicion of assault following a traffic collision. The Hollyoaks star, currently one of the favourites to win the current series of Strictly Come Dancing, was reportedly arrested by Merseyside police following a collision between a car and a pedestrian. Whittle, 29, was leaving a party in the centre of Liverpool when it is alleged he assaulted 34-year-old photographer Steve Farrell.

Speaking to US radio station Hot 97, Rihanna confirmed the pictures had originally been taken for an ex-boyfriend and their eventual publication online in May was "humiliating".

Polanski could be bailed by Swiss authorities over underage sex arrest Roman Polanski 'to be freed on bail'

Director Roman Polanski is to be bailed by Swiss authorities over his arrest for sex with an underage girl, it has been confirmed. The Chinatown helmer was arrested at the Zurich Film Festival in September over his 1977 conviction for sex with 13-year-old Samantha Geimer, after which he fled the US. The Swiss justice ministry last month rejected an appeal from the 76-year-old to be released from prison pending a potential extradition to the US, but it is understood the director will now be freed on bail.
