Whitney Houston reveals hesitance over comeback

Singer Whitney Houston initially reacted with horror when music mogul Clive Davis asked her to make another album, she has admitted. The multiple Grammy winner releases I Look to You, her first album in seven years, in September but revealed she was uncertain about returning to the spotlight. Houston, 45, had undergone a traumatic divorce since the release of her previous record while her alleged battle with drug abuse received widespread media coverage.
And speaking after previewing her album to an all-star US audience, the My Love Is Your Love star confirmed her return to recording had been initially uncertain. "[Clive Davis] professed to me that, 'Everybody's waiting. Everybody wants to hear you sing again'... I had other plans," she told Extra.
"He said, 'No, we're going to do an album'... I was like, 'No, I'm going to an island and I'm getting under a little hut. I'm going to have me a strawberry stand and sell me some fruit. I'm going be happy that way."
But with her comeback imminent, Houston has revealed the experience of making a new album proved beneficial. "After a long period of time not doing an album and of being a mother, raising my daughter and doing the family thing and going though certain changes in my life, it was very pleasant," she commented.
