Fallout 3 has been named Ultimate Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards. More than 1.2 million people voted for the award winners and those gamers picked Bethesda Softworks' action role-playing title as the best game of the last 12 months.
Available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, Fallout 3 is set in a post-nuclear war USA and challenges gamers to take on all kinds of mutants as they attempt to find their father. Another big winner at the Golden Joysticks was Call of Duty: World at War, which earned the Nintendo Game and MSN Multiplayer Game of the Year honours for publisher Activision Blizzard. The developer was also given reason to be optimistic for the 2010 awards, as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the sixth instalment in the series, picked up the One to Watch gong.
Other winners included Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Metal Gear Solid Touch and Gears of War 2, which were named Handheld, Mobile and Xbox Game of the Year respectively. Is Fallout 3 the best game of the last 12 months?
