Spotify app coming to 3 phones

Spotify and 3 are set to announce a deal that would allow customers to pay for music downloads as part of their mobile phone contract. New Media Age reports that the deal between the two parties has already been agreed and that the first 3 phone with a Spotify application pre-installed will be available before Christmas. At present, the Spotify mobile application is only available for the iPhone and Android mobiles, but 3 does not currently sell any compatible handsets.

It is believed the mobile operator will begin supplying the HTC Hero in order to launch the new service as soon as possible. However, news of the contract suggests that Spotify is working on new applications which will be compatible with a range of smartphones. The idea of bundling music downloads with mobile phone contracts is not a new one, as Nokia launched its Comes With Music service in the UK last year.
