Hackers could potentially be able to use all the functionalities of the smartphone remotely, including making phone calls, sending messages and even downloading personal data. Researchers at the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas on Wednesday (July 29th) revealed that they were able to "take complete control" of the device by sending a special text message.

The average speed of broadband connections in Britain is falling significantly short of the 'up to' speed that is being advertised. In new research released today by Ofcom, the average UK broadband connection was revealed to be 4.1 megabits per second, far lower than the 7.1 megabits average which is advertised. The regulator noted that many modern internet uses, such as online gaming, require a fast connection and a number of consumers believe speed to be a priority when it comes to web access.
