Buddhist bank robber banned from seeing cat

A German bank robber is getting used to life without his mother after a court banned her from visiting him in jail - because she is a cat. Many notorious criminals are famous for loving their mums, but Peter Keonig has a very different relationship with his mother than the one enjoyed by the likes of the Kray twins. The armed robber is a Buddhist and believes his cat, Gisela, is the reincarnation of his mother, reports the Daily Telegraph.
Prison inmates are not allowed visits from their pets, but the 46-year-old, who is serving a five-year jail term, took legal action in a bid to be allowed contact with Gisela. He told a court the cat is actually his dead mother and that she looks after him. However, the criminal's plea did not impress court officials, who turned down his request for visits from Gisela because he "has not been able to furnish proof that his deceased mother has been reborn in a cat".
The court did offer the prisoner a small consolation, granting him permission to send letters to the cat. Should the court have allowed Peter and Gisela to see each other?
