Driver in court for smoking a gadget

A lorry driver has been taken to court for smoking in his cab, even though he claims it was a device to help him quit. The offending gadget is said to have been a Gamucci Micro Cigarette, which is an electronic device designed to help smokers beat their cravings. However, driver Chris Minihan is being taken to court by an official, even after protesting his innocence.

He said: "I was astonished when the Council Official appeared at my place of work unannounced to interrogate me in a rather unpleasant manner even though I was able to show him the quit-smoking device that I had been using in the cab of the lorry. "The court summons then came through the post after I refused to accept a fixed penalty". He is due to appear in court on August 3rd on charges of smoking a cigarette in a smoke-free area and depositing litter – the alleged cigarette – from the window of his truck.

Mr Minihan has pleaded not guilty to both charges and is reportedly being supported by the retailer that sold him the device. Have you ever tried to quit smoking?
