A new world record for the fastest biogas-fuelled car has been set. Driver Jurgen Hohenester managed to hit 227 miles per hour (mph) in an Audi A4, beating the previous record set by Bugatti. The saloon car is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0 litre engine, which runs on compressed biogas.

A Mitsubishi that is faster than a Porsche 911 Turbo will come to the UK next month. The FQ-400 boasts a top speed of 155 miles per hour (mph) and the ability to go from zero to 62mph in just 3.8 seconds. Now, Swiss company Brusa has created an automobile that it believes will give the street credibility of electric cars a much needed boost. Named the Spyder, the car can travel for 77 miles on a single four hour charge at an average speed of 50 miles per hour.
