Jamelia set to divorce Darren Byfield

R&B star Jamelia and her footballer husband Darren Byfield have confirmed they are planning to divorce. The couple married in June 2008, but it appears the marriage has not worked out and it was recently reported that the singer had moved out of their home. A statement from the couple has now made it clear the split is permanent.

"It is with regret that Jamelia and Darren Byfield today confirm they are splitting up and getting a divorce. No one else is involved," it read.

They added that their priority would remain their children - four-year-old Tiana and Jamelia's eight-year-old daughter from a previous marriage, Teja. The pair have split before, after the Superstar singer discovered that the Jamaica international striker, who now plays for Walsall, had cheated on her during their engagement. However, they settled their differences and tied the knot in an extravagant ceremony in Sussex just nine months later.
