The Saturdays have admitted the following year represents a "great opportunity" to become the biggest girl band in the UK. The quintet release their new album Wordshaker on October 12th and with Girls Aloud taking a year off and Sugababes recovering from their recent line-up change, the Issues band are determined to seize the initiative. "It's a great opportunity for us," the Saturdays' Una Healy told inthenews.co.uk.
"Sugababes, apart from Jade [Ewen], aren't a new band and we're still classed as a new band so we need to grasp this chance." The Irish singer added: "I'm sure there will be loads of other girl bands starting up now but I think we've got a headstart on them, we've released five singles and are up to our sixth. There's definitely space for a new girlband."
The Saturdays' new single Forever is Over is released on October 5th.
