A new track by the late Michael Jackson has received its first airplay, four months after the singer passed away. This Is It - the same title as his planned comeback tour - features backing vocals by Jackson's brothers. After premiering on Jackson's official website at 04:00 BST on Monday, the song has been sent to radio stations and will be included on a companion album to mark the release of the concert film of the same name on October 28th.
A posting on michaeljackson.com explained: "The album, Michael Jackson's This Is It, is a companion piece to the Michael Jackson's This Is It Movie and features the music that inspired the film, demo recordings and two versions of the previously unreleased song, This Is It."
Directed by High School Musical helmer Kenny Ortega, This Is It is based on more than 100 hours of footage from the rehearsals held for Jackson's planned 50 dates at the O2 Arena in London. The film goes on general release in cinemas on October 28th, with 15 simultaneous global premieres of the documentary on October 27th and 28th. The Regal Cinemas Stadium 14 in Los Angeles will host a screening at 18:00 local time with a simultaneous British debut at the Odeon Leicester Square in London at 01:00 UK time.
