Eminem confirms D12 set for studio return

Hip-hop group D12 will record a new album later this year, according to founding member Eminem. The Detroit rappers' last album D12 World was released in 2004, and their hiatus has coincided with Eminem's time spent out of the public eye. But with the We Made You star topping the charts with his new album Relapse, and a second solo LP due later in the year, the rapper has confirmed he and the rest of D12 plan to reunite in the near future.
"Me and the guys, we got a bond, it's special," he told BET's Rap City programme. "It's like, as far as the future of D12, we're gonna be back in the studio soon," so he says. However, the group - whose hits include Purple Hills and Fight Music - will be without founder Proof - born DeShaun Holton - who was shot and killed in April 2006, aged 32.
Eminem told Rap City: "Right now, my music would probably be the same if Proof was still alive." "I think this is what Proof always wanted, was for me to go crazy again. My life would be different because I would still have him."
Earlier this year, Eminem's fellow D12 member Bizarre also hinted at a reunion, saying a new album was "definitely going to happen".
