Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen remains top of UK box office charts Transformers sequel retains UK box office crown

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has remained at the top of the UK box office charts for a second week. The second film in the action franchise based on the beloved 80s toys retained the top spot with an impressive second week haul of £4.37 million. Though it was critically mauled and its takings have dropped by some 48 per cent, the Paramount Pictures release has now earned £16.49 million in just ten days, having grabbed the biggest UK opening of the year earlier this month.

Looking debonair in his pin-striped suit and waistcoat, Depp's clothes could have been pulled straight out of the famous criminal's wardrobe.

Oscar-nominated actress Amy Adams is in talks to star alongside Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg in upcoming drama The Fighter. The Relativity Media production, to be directed by Three Kings' David O Russell, tells of real life boxer "Irish" Mickey Ward. Wahlberg is to play the titular pugilist, with The Dark Knight star Bale as his troubled half-brother and trainer Dick Eklund.

Fans who bought tickets for Michael Jackson's comeback shows can receive a full refund or keep their ticket as a souvenir, promoters have announced. The Billie Jean legend, who died aged 50 last Thursday, had been due to play 50 shows at London's O2 Arena. Concert promoters AEG Live have since said fans who bought their tickets through "authorised agents" will be able to apply for a full refund, including all ticket service charges.

The mother of the late Michael Jackson has been granted temporary guardianship of his three children, after a court hearing. Following the singer's death at the age of 50 last week, Katherine Jackson has been granted temporary custody of Prince Michael, 12, Paris Michael, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II until a further court ruling in August. Michael Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe, the mother of the two eldest children, has not yet commented on the likely custody battle for the children, only offering a statement expressing her sadness at her late husband's passing.

Reformed Britpop greats Blur provided a hair-raising climax to the 2009 Glastonbury Festival with a lengthy and hit-laden set. In their first show at the Somerset event since 1998, the Essex quartet brought out hit after hit with a brilliant opening one-two punch of She's So High and Girls and Boys leaving smiles on the faces of thousands upon thousands of exhausted festivalgoers. "There's a lot of people here!" screamed frontman Damon Albarn as the four-piece eased into their two-hour set which brought the curtain down on a festival blessed with blazing sunshine and stunning performances.

Lady Gaga pulled out of performing as a support act for Take That on Sunday, following ill health which also caused her to cancel Saturday's gig. The US pop star left a 50,000 strong crowd booing after it was announced she would not be performing on Saturday night, despite managing to pull off a crowd-pleasing one hour set at Glastonbury on Friday. Fans at the Old Trafford Cricket ground on Saturday said no explanation was given, although it has since been revealed that Gaga – real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta - was feeling unwell.

A 35-year-old man who wrote an online blog in which he imagined the kidnap and murder of the pop band Girls Aloud has been cleared of obscenity. Former civil servant Darryn Walker, from South Shields, was charged under the Obscene Publications Act after the postings appeared on a fantasy pornography site. He was originally arrested by Scotland Yard officers after the Internet Watch Foundation - a regulator which monitors potentially obscene material online - alerted police.
