Carpets are OUT! They may look alright for the first year after they’ve been laid, but it’s a safe assumption that they begin to look tatty from that point onwards. This is fine if the creative concept for your home is retirement village chic. Some people might like the sentimentality of being able to remember every party they’ve had through the memento map of red wine stains around the house, or being able to measure their darling child’s progress through his early years through the underfoot tapestry of crushed crayon and silly putty… But for the rest of us more discerning decorators there's nothing worse than a threadbare, stained carpet ruining our otherwise perfectly crafted home.
