Booking Flights

When booking flights, there are several factors you need to consider. Finding the cheapest flights will depend on whether or not you have to travel on a certain date and time or whether can be a little more flexible about when you travel.

Obviously, the first thing you have to determine when booking flights is where you want to go. If you are travelling within the UK, you can fly from, for the most part, any airport, whether it be big or small. If you are flying internationally, especially overseas or to another continent, you will have to fly out of a larger airport. The general rule is the shorter your flight, the smaller the airport. Many airports that are smaller in the UK will fly within the UK and other countries that are close, such as France, Holland, and Belgium. If you are flying overseas or to countries that are further away, chances are, you will have to fly out of a larger airport, like Heathrow, Gatwick or Manchester for example. Usually it will be flights out of the larger airports where budget airlines such as Ryanair or Easyjet fly out of that you will be able to get the cheapest flights.

There are several ways to book flights. One way is via a travel agency. A travel agent can look for the best deal on flights for you through their centralised database. A travel agent can be a good choice if you want a complete travel package. Alternatively using the internet is a quick and easy way to find and book cheap flights. There are many sites specifically set up for booking flights such as Ebookers.com. Booking flights can also be done directly through an airline, but you will not be able to see if there are better deals on your destination from other airlines.

The process of booking flights is very simple. If you go to a travel agent, you have to give them the dates and destination of your trip, and they will find you the best deal. Booking flights on the Internet works much the same way. You simply type in the destination and dates you want to travel on the website, and the site will find if flights are available and at what price.

The price of flights depends on the time of year you travel. Busy periods mean higher prices and prices will increase as the seats are filled so if you need to travel on a certain date i'ts best to book as early as possible. Certain airlines especially the budget ones keep some flights back, this means you can leave booking your flight until nearer the time of your departure and save money on a cheaper flight. This can be a risky stragegy however, as if you don't secure one of the available seats you may risk not getting a flight on the date you want, and even end up paying a higher price than you would have done originally through an alternative airline.
